Trout Poland
Trout farming in Poland has seen significant development, particularly since the late 1990s, with the country becoming one of the most important markets for portion (250g–400g) rainbow trout for human consumption. The sector is characterised by intensive production methods, including recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), tanks, and raceways. Trout farms are located in the north, on the Baltic Sea coast, and in the south, in the Carpathian foothills. In 2022, the production of salmonids reached 22.5 thousand tonnes, accounting for 50% of the total aquaculture output in Poland. The consumption of trout in Poland has increased due to promotional campaigns highlighting its health benefits and environmental friendliness. The market has also expanded with the introduction of chilled pre-packed trout products in supermarkets.
