Transport Services Overview

Wellboats transport fish in a pool of seawater within the hull. The water is constantly refreshed by the movement of the boat through the water or by automated pumps. The latest technologies allow oxygen production and CO2 stripping. The operations involve everything from moving smolts from land units to sea farms, treatments of fish from sea pens using freshwater which some vessels can make from sea water by a process of desalination using reverse osmosis, grading of fish into different sizes and removal of parasites using humane methods.

Helicopters are used to move live fish on normally short journeys and they are transported in highly-oxygenated purpose-built water tanks or buckets carried beneath the helicopter.

Trucks transport live fish in water tanks usually on flat-bed trailers. Oxygen systems and advanced readout and control mechanisms are used to ensure maximum welfare conditions.
